DEMONo real listings yet: prices are modelled. Where the data comes from

About the data

A price is a judgement, not a fact. This page sets out what ours is based on.

Where the data comes from

Estimates are built on asking prices, not sale prices. Asking prices are public and visible daily; sale prices are not registered publicly in Hong Kong.

  • Simulated listings; the source labels (28car, Carousell, dealer) are generated too
  • Only make, model, year, mileage, owners, trim and district are kept
  • No seller identity or contact details are collected

How the sample is chosen

A car is only compared with the same model, within one year either side. The more comparable listings there are, the narrower the range.

  • 30 or more comparables: high confidence, and a range of about 8% either side
  • 10 to 29 comparables: medium confidence, and a wider range
  • Under 10: labelled a thin sample. With none at all we publish no number

How often it updates

Only the last 90 days of listings count. Nothing older can drag today's estimate down.

  • The demo corpus is generated once and does not refresh daily
  • The trend buckets every listing by the ISO week it was posted and plots that week's median across 13 weeks; weeks with fewer than two listings are left blank
  • In this demo the whole corpus is frozen at 15 September 2026

How an estimate is built

It starts from the new-car price, adjusts for age, mileage, owners, trim and condition, then aligns to what comparable cars are actually listed at.

  • New price × trim × depreciation by age × mileage × owners × condition
  • How wide the range is depends on the sample size, never on the price
  • Every factor is shown with its direction and its percentage

Limits and disclaimer

An estimate is a reference. It is not an offer and it is not a guarantee.

  • Asking prices usually sit above sale prices, typically by a few per cent
  • Accident, flood, modification and service history are invisible to us unless you tell us
  • Rare models and cars that have only just launched carry thin samples and much lower accuracy
